The ability to customize your budgeting categories is essential for accurately tracking your spending habits and managing your budget effectively. If a transaction doesn’t fit into one of our existing categories, you have the flexibility to create your own category. Simply select the category type, give it a name, and choose an icon. You can also edit your custom categories anytime, ensuring your budget reflects your unique needs.
Here's how you can create a custom category:
Through the App:
- Log in to your MoneyWellth account.
- Go to Budgeting from the bottom navigation menu.
- Tap View All Categories.
- Select the category containing the transaction for which you would like to create a custom category.
- Tap the transaction. The transaction details will appear. You can also create a custom category from the category selection list.
- Tap Custom Categories.
- Tap Add Category. If you've already created a custom category, this is also where you will see your existing custom categories.
- Create the custom category by selecting the category group (Expenses or Non-Spending), category name, and icon for the category. Tap Save to create your custom category successfully.
- The last step is to assign your transaction(s) to this custom category. When you recategorize a transaction, your custom category will appear in your category list to choose from.

Through the Website:
- Log in to your MoneyWellth account.
- Go to Budgeting from the left navigation menu.
- Click on View All Categories.
- Select the category containing the transaction for which you would like to create a custom category.
- Click the transaction. The transaction details will appear. You can also create a custom category from the category selection list.
- Click on the create icon next to Custom Categories.
- Click Add Category. If you've already created a custom category, this is also where you will see your existing custom categories.
- Create the custom category by selecting the category group (Expenses or Non-Spending), category name, and icon for the category. Click Save to create your custom category successfully.
- The last step is to assign your transaction(s) to this custom category. You will be prompted automatically to update the selected transactions category. Click Update Category to confirm.

- You will also be asked if you want to set the change of category as a rule for future transactions with the same provider. This means any transactions with the same provider will be automatically assigned to the new custom category.
